Why climate attaches to the twin
Caribbean agriculture is highly exposed to drought, tropical cyclones, flood, and rainfall variability. Jamaica’s sector has repeatedly shown large production declines after major droughts (e.g. severe events associated with ~30% production drops in major drought years) and multi-billion-JMD losses from storms and related hazards. Climate context must join place and enterprise — not sit only in national reports.

- Drought & production — Documented links between multi-year dry spells, reduced harvested area, and large crop-group declines; coastal vs interior drought propensity differs.
