From map to system model
If we can connect agricultural information, what exactly are we representing? Not simply a database. Not simply a map. Not even simply a collection of applications.
We are attempting to build a digital representation of the agricultural system itself — entities, relationships, location, time, events, and context.
Entities & relationships
A farm is not only a point on a map. It is an entity embedded in a network:
- People and producer organizations
- Land parcels and production systems
- Assets (irrigation, greenhouses, storage)
- Commodities and market links
- Climate and environmental exposure
- Institutions, programs, and finance
AgriDOS entity relationship modeling treats these as first-class objects that can be linked, queried, and visualized across scales.
Multi-scale representation
The architecture is progressive:
- Farm — identity, operations, assets
- Cluster / community — producer groups, shared infrastructure
- Parish / district — planning and extension geography
- National — Jamaica and peer systems
- Caribbean — regional patterns, trade, climate, investment
Caribbean focus begins with Jamaica, where agricultural information remains distributed across geographic, institutional, and organizational boundaries — with concepts adaptable to other emerging systems.

Why the map was only the beginning
The map answers where. The digital twin aims at who, what, how, when, why, what changed, and what could happen next — so institutions can move from visibility to intelligence to action.
